One of the most important factors in business in general is the ability to sell, whether you're a sole trader, a tradesman, a construction company or larger organization. Taking a professional approach to being able to sell is one point of difference, and I see businesses out there that are very good at what they do but when you ask them, "How do you sell what you do?" they can’t actually tell you.

This is one of the biggest gaps that need to be filled in business in Australia because we have this kind of preconceived notion that sales is bad. Sales is not bad. Sales is very good for business and even better for the customer. When you sell something, it’s not about making someone do something they don’t want to do. When you sell something, it’s about helping someone to experience what you're selling (i.e. product or service) in a safe way and to fully understand whether it’s a decision they want to make.

For example, health clinicians. Great clinicians are not salespeople, but if you take the time as a clinician to help someone experience maybe doing a Pilates class or going for an X-ray or spending a little bit more money on their teeth, safely without feeling pressure, they get permission to make a fully informed decision and quite often if it is a good fit for them, then they'll do it.

Not doing that (learning how to sell) not only puts your business at risk, it actually doesn't do a good job for your customer. What I want to cover in these next few videos is exactly how to do that and the key facets of doing that. Be sure to tune in. I'm looking forward to sharing it.
